The Need
For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50% and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty.
As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Senior Lead, Regional HR, who will be the primary custodian of region-wide initiatives and programs in the following key focus areas – Spiritual Formation, Performance Management and Learning & Development. The job holder will work closely with Global People Support (GPS) and country HR counterparts in developing and implementing contextualized solutions, programs, and initiatives for Asia Pacific region, and rolling out global standards, procedures, and policies within the APAC region.
This position will also serve as the HR Generalist or a designated HR (primary point-of-contact) for one of IJM’s Advancement Offices in APAC, working closely with the Country Director and team members in providing holistic HR support, guidance and updates. The job holder will be responsible for developing and executing HR procedures & policies and ensuring its alignment to global and regional policies and standards while maintaining local HR legal compliance. The Senior Lead, Regional HR will provide policy guidance & interpretation for business operations, participate in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and ongoing reports as required by IJM Global and statutory reporting. The incumbent will play a crucial role in administering benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs, recommend new procedures & policies for improving employee experience as well as the efficiency of HR processes. The job holder will be responsible in ensuring compliance with country regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and procedures when necessary.
This position can be based in the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia or Thailand and reports to the Regional HR Business Partner, Asia Pacific. This position is available for candidates with the right to work in the above-mentioned countries.
Responsibilities
Performance Management
- Collaborate with GPS to offer training and resources to people managers and employees on performance management processes, effective communication, and providing constructive feedback.
- Facilitate goal setting and annual performance review alignment, helping people managers and employees establish SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals that support organizational objectives.
- Provide guidance and support to people managers and employees in navigating the performance management process, addressing performance issues, and developing solutions.
- Promote a culture of continuous feedback by encouraging a culture of open and constructive feedback, helping people managers provide regular and timely feedback to employees
Learning & Development
- Collaborate with GPS, understanding the global training plan and ensuring timely communication dissemination to APAC countries/stakeholders/learners and maximum & active participation from the region.
- Work closely with multiple stakeholders, including SMEs, to understand program goals and learner needs as required.
- Provide input and assist in the development and curation of learning programs and creative learner-centred assets and experiences that are aligned to multiple delivery modes including online, face to face and via video conferencing tools.
- Deliver engaging facilitation of targeted training and professional development programs.
- Deliver excellent learning outcomes for all learners, taking learner needs into consideration, including enhanced learner experience through active learning experiences and end user focus.
- Identify potential external partners to deliver training and development programs based on training needs.
Spiritual Formation
- Model, coach Country HR Leads in their initiatives, and directly cultivate staff’s understanding and commitment to IJM’s spiritual rhythms
- Encourage & support the integration of IJM’s spiritual rhythm and commitments in organizational processes & practices and aligning them to IJM’s Mission and Core Values
- Engage with internal and external networks, providers and organizations in matters related to nurturing individual and organizational faith journey, including thought leadership, assessments, shared learning, resource sharing, and more
- In alignment with GPS, lead the development and/or oversee implementation of a context-appropriate Spiritual Formation strategies, priorities and plans
- Work closely with other functions within APAC to promote mutual learning, support, and accountability
Stakeholders Management and Support
- Serve as the HR Generalist and designated HR (primary point-of-contact) for an Advancement Office working closely with the Country Director and team members in providing holistic HR support, guidance and coaching to the team, managing direct relationships with external HR services providers/partners, and engaging with other functional teams (e.g. Finance, Legal, Security, etc) on common issues
- Serve as the secondary HR point-of-contact for regional team members
General Tasks
- Perform additional tasks and/or lead special assignments/tasks as delegated by immediate supervisor
- Can commit to travel for meetings, training and other work activities
Education & Experience
- Degree in Business, Administration, Human Resources or related discipline; MBA is a plus
- 7+ years solid experience in a similar role; NGO experience is a plus
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office) & administration skills
- Well-developed communication skills, professional manner and appreciation of sensitive/confidential information
- Strong ability to manage and achieve multiple tasks and responsibilities within the prescribed timeframes
Technical Competencies
- Understanding of employment/labor laws across Asia Pacific region, preferred
- Prior experience in using HRIS, specifically Workday, preferred
- Prior experience in Performance Management, Learning & Development and/or Spiritual Formation, a plus
